The politics is the "monday-morning quarterbacks"; I'm already in a pure KDE comfort zone, but when I put my nose over the border to see if GNOME offers me anything, I see all these "KDE's bad!" posts, without any reasonable justification.

Thus, I'm not interested in trying GNOME; I'm happy with KDE, and from that perspective GNOME's cheerleaders are offputting. I'm sure that someone in my position, but on the GNOME side gets a similar view of KDE.
