Gallery 2 Release Candidate 1 Released (SourceForge)

Release candidate 1 of Gallery 2, a web-based photo management application, has been announced. "We have made small improvements since the Beta 4 release. One new thing you'll notice is that now we offer up 4 different flavors of packages for you to download so that you can pick one that suits your needs. This will make it easier for those of you who are using FTP to transfer Gallery up to your webserver."

Hello,

gallery has come a long, long way since the 1.x releases. This project is a rare kind of project that does a rewrite which takes a long, long time and finally gets something done that actually works.

Ambitious ideas often have the side-effect of being non-doable. Gallery2 is proof that it can work none the less.

The coolest thing about gallery is IMHO its installer/updater.

I think saying that the Gallery project "finally gets something done that
actually works" is not fair.

I've used Gallery 1.4 and 1.4.1 on my own web page and it works great.
