Hello,
The Danish parliament is in the process of implementing the European Union
directive called "copyrights and related rights in the information
society" in the Danish law code. The directive is probably better known
to LWN readers as the EU version of the DMCA.
There is a protest movement (slowly) underway, organized at
www.digitalforbruger.dk, and in contrast to the US, some political parties
seem to be willing to at least consider the protesters arguments. If the
Danish politicians could be convinced to strip the anti-circumvention part
of the law, or not pass it at all, then this would be great for the Danes
and bad news for the EU directive. (Denmark has earlier been able to say
no when the lawmaking got out of hand.)
However, the number of protester's signatures is only increasing slowly,
with about 3700 last time I checked. I wonder if you could mention
"www.digitalforbruger.dk" and encourage Danish readers to check it out?
For example, the first paragraph of this message followed by a comment
like "Concerned Danes can help fighting this law by signing the protest at
www.digitalforbruger.dk" would probably be enough. (The site is in
Danish, of course...)
Sincerely, Anders Buch
