Programming Tools: UML Tools (Linux Journal)
The Linux Journal looks at tools (both free and proprietary) for creating UML diagrams.
"At the moment, none of the open-source tools that I have tried match the richness of the commercial products. DIA is the most extensible, but it does not treat UML semantically, so logical connections and implications are not supported."

Programming Tools: UML Tools (Linux Journal) Posted Jun 1, 2005 17:36 UTC (Wed) by rmstar (guest, #3672) [Link] I am glad to know that open source programmers know what kind of projects are really a waste of time.

I am really glad people keep working on Umbrello.I find the application invaluable when researching existing code, especially in big projects. And state diagrams are great when designing complex interaction protocols.
Programming Tools: UML Tools (Linux Journal) Posted Jun 1, 2005 17:55 UTC (Wed) by leonscape (subscriber, #12261) [Link] So he picks two closed-source applications, and DIA which is a generaldiagram program, and declares this the state of the art on Linux? He Completely ignores stuff like Umbrello ( an open source UML Modeller. ), and seems more concerned with the business model of the companies making the closed-source software. The article isn't worth the electrons its displayed with.
Programming Tools: UML Tools (Linux Journal) Posted Jun 1, 2005 18:11 UTC (Wed) by jwb (subscriber, #15467) [Link] The author also ignored ArgoUML, probably the oldest open-source UML modeller still under development.

Programming Tools: UML Tools (Linux Journal) Posted Jun 3, 2005 14:28 UTC (Fri) by maraz (subscriber, #28046) [Link] I agree with a previous post by busterb: the article does not mention Rational (http://www.ibm.com/software/rational/). UML is much more than diagrams, so you really need heavy-weight tools in order to apply a formal methodology ... However, Umbrello does look promising.
