One very specific question. Is the architecture flexible enough to easily support integrating IMMS or equivalent automatic scoring system?

The medialib in XMMS2 already has automatic scoring:
sqlite> select artist,song,playsum from topsongs order by playsum desc limit 10;
Iris|Danger is the Shame|146
Iris|Lose in Wanting|99
