Debian on Steroids III: Libranet 3.0 (Linux Journal)

The Linux Journal reviews Libranet 3.0. "The heavyweight classification I give this latest Libranet comes from its distribution size--five CDs or one DVD--and its comprehensive list of included applications. Although a number of Debian-based distributions are available at less or no cost, none include as many programs as Libranet 3.0 does. This is of primary interest to me and other Linux users who lack broadband or simply don't want to spend their time downloading packages in order to get the functionality we want."

Well, apart from Debian itself...

Yeah, and anyone who can type "Debian Sarge CD set" into Google shouldn't have any trouble finding a few sources. 15 CDs - that would include sources, wouldn't it?!

No, that's 15 CD's worth of binaries / 3 DVD's (though the last DVD
is not by any means full.) Source is _another_ 15 CD's / 3 DVD's. That's
one of the reasons I use Debian - almost anything packaged that's free
enough by Debian standards is an apt-get away. You don't need all 15
CD's to install - the netinst .iso is about 100M for the one that installs
the full base system - but they are very handy to have for an isolated
machine with no network. Generate the images using jigdo and synch. to a
nearby mirror: much more straightforward than downloading full images. I'm
not sure how good/up to date the Bittorrent images are at the moment - I've
not yet used Bittorrent for this.

The bittorrent images are just the same.
