I've tried to make a kritarelease using checkinstall, but failed horribly. The resulting rpm was just plain unusable, even on my own system.

Posted Mar 31, 2005 23:25 UTC (Thu) by cdmiller (subscriber, #2813) [Link] I have had no problems with checkinstall on debian, redhat, and mandrake, but recently the only thing I have packaged using it was an old asclock release. Use checkinstall if the unpackaged source is all that is available for the software you need until a package complete with dependency checking etc. for your distro appears.
