Red Hat's stability goals for its Enterprise Linux line could be an issue here.
These cases are reported as vulnerabilites. Were any expoits to these vulnerabilites created before the RedHat fixed the problems ?
If there weren't any known exploits, maybe that influenced the long time
it took to make a fix? Not that I would recommend that...
