Here are the contest results for 2.5.43-mm1:

noload:
Kernel [runs] Time CPU% Loads LCPU% Ratio
2.4.19 [3] 67.7 98 0 0 1.01
2.5.42 [2] 72.5 93 0 0 1.08
2.5.42-mm3 [2] 78.1 93 0 0 1.16
2.5.43 [2] 74.6 92 0 0 1.11
2.5.43-mm1 [4] 74.9 93 0 0 1.12

Whatever it was that was making it take longer in 2.5.42-mm3 has made it go
back to that of 2.5.43 vanilla. Note this is slower than 2.5.42 which is
slower than 2.4.19.

process_load:
Kernel [runs] Time CPU% Loads LCPU% Ratio
2.5.42-mm3 [2] 100.9 69 48 33 1.50
2.5.43 [2] 99.7 71 44 31 1.48
2.5.43-mm1 [4] 201.3 59 178 42 3.00

The context switching has gone mad here and done heaps more work at the
expense of kernel compilation time. No cpu time appears to have been wasted
though.
