Also, between Fedora's two advanced package managers, we had good success with yum, but were unable to make apt-get work correctly. Known bug: apt does not understand Fedora-style bi-arch distributions (specifically, it does not understand that there should be two packages with the same name and version: e.g. glibc for i686 and x64-64). See http://www.linuxtx.org/amd64faq.html, for example. apt is not currently part of either Fedora Core for x86-64 or Fedora Extras for x86-64. James.
