Hmm... I don't get it. Why would distributions still ship sendmail? Postfix and exim are far better MTAs.

It's strange, Red Hat does the same thing.

Maybe they're afraid of offending Cheswick, Bellovin and Rubin by making their wonderful capsule summary of sendmail less accurate:
The most common implementation of SMTP is contained in sendmail. This program is included free in most UNIX software distributions, but you get less than you pay for.
