I really like the fact that they split the requirement for X-Windows off from the core. X, IMHO, does not belong on headless servers.

Though many times I have wished the "resize" command was not packaged with
X. It should come with termcap, terminfo, curses, whatever.

If you're interested in seeing "resize" declare its independence from xterm, you could ask Thomas Dickey, who has been the XTerm maintainer for some years now, to split it off.

Thomas is also the maintainer for several other pieces of commonly-used software, such as the ncurses library and the "dialog" text-mode interface builder.

Thomas's webpage is at <URL: http://www.invisible-island.net/ >.

I concur. It would be very nice to have a much smaller subset of LSB suitable for embedded systems. There is an awful lot of work being repeated by most outfits that adopt Linux for embedded devices.
