Is Linux taking over the enterprise? (ZDNet)

This ZDNet article takes a long look how Linux is doing at "world domination". "Linux continues to play a role in enterprise markets, but its growth spurt of recent years appears to have slowed a little. In 2001, Linux server environment shipments declined in revenue by five percent to $80 million, according to IDC, after two years of solid growth. That decline does need to be seen in context, however."

Is Linux taking over the enterprise? - YES!, says a poster

The article is not bad, as for mainstream articles on Linux do.

BUT, if you want to refresh your faith in the Holy Penguin and in its Ultimate Destiny, go to read the (quite long) second talkback. It summarises all the Final Thruths that gentils and pagans need to know about IT.

BTW, I quite agree with many of the points. I'd love to live and work in a world where Linux and Open Source software represents the commons on which every company builds its products (open source or not). I'm not just so sure that this is going to happen, especially in the absolute and emphatic terms of the poster. We all can pray, anyway :-).

Damm, everybody takes over the Enterprise!
