OpenOffice.org 1.1.4 is ready for download.  It is our new
stable release and replaces OpenOffice.org 1.1.3.  OpenOffice.org 1.1.4
is free for all to use and distribute.  For versions in your language,
check with your native-language project.

The release includes many bug fixes but no new features; the release
notes describe what has been fixed.

OpenOffice.org 1.1.4 represents one of the last stages before 
OpenOffice.org 2.0, which *does* contain many new features and even
better compatibility with other major office suites.

OpenOffice.org 2.0 will be ready for general use in March 2005. An
early, preview version, is ready for download now.  It is not
meant for daily use but is meant to give a taste of things to come.

OpenOffice.org 1.1.4 released

They've been holding the release for some time while deciding whether or not to switch installers on Win32 and possibly some other platforms. They finally decided they should just get it out the door with the old installer. 1.1.4 is almost identical to the RC released a month ago.

Frankly, OpenOffice development seems to have to struggle a lot more than any other major projects to get anywhere.

With a million people eager to download every update it is fine that they put a lot of thought even in a point release.

Often (for various projects) the official release email lags behind them waiting for all the ftp servers to mirror okay.

I know I appreciate a 'bug fix release without new features' more than an update with new ( possible buggy ) features.
