It still seems rather difficult for people to think of Open Source as: "if it's not there, build it yourself and feed it back to the community".
Far too often I hear the same answer to that: "if I do so, my competitor will be able to use it too". True, however they fail to see that if their competitor uses it, they can use their competitor's stuff as well...
