  * James Tracy sent in a paper about writing and compiling programs with 
    emacs and the g++ compiler.

2. Updated HOWTOs, FAQs and Guides

  * David Braun published v1.5 of his [http://tldp.org/HOWTO/]
    Disk Encryption HOWTO, which has minor updates.
   
  * In v1.1.6 of Daniel Nofftz's [http://tldp.org/HOWTO/]
    Athlon Powersaving HOWTO you'll find more info
    about commandline-hacks and the athcool tool.
   
  * Claudio Cattazzo and Manuele Rampazzo rewrote the [http://www.tldp.org/]
    Italian HOWTO. The previous version was rather
    outdated, so they did a nearly-from-scratch job. Also refer to the 
    [ http://it.tldp.org/] Italian Linux Documentation Project over at PLUTO.
   
  * The SSI-UML HOWTO was removed at the request of the author.
   
  * Machtelt Garrels submitted updates for the [http://www.tldp.org/LDP/]
    Intro to Linux and [http://www.tldp.org/LDP/]
    Bash for Beginners guides.

  * New mirrors

  * New Linux magazine:
   
    SSC Publishing, publishers of the Linux Journal, will launch a new
    monthly printed and online publication called "TUX". It will address new

  * Translation Projects:
   
    Our French colleagues didn't sit still. Over at [http://www.traduc.org]
    you can read about their latest accomplishments,
    among others a translation of the Samba Authenticated Gateway HOWTO and
    the Complete System Performance Monitoring Guide.
   
    The Korean LDP chapter put up a [http://wiki.kldp.org/wiki.php/CodeFest]
    gallery with images and documentation of their 
    [http://bbs.kldp.org/viewtopic.php?t=48221]
    CodeFests on the [http://kldp.org] site.

4. HOWTO contribute to The LDP

The Linux Documentation Project (TLDP) is working on developing free, high
quality documentation for the GNU/Linux operating system. If you want to help
TLDP, consider joining <discuss-subscribe@en.tldp.org>.

Help us create this newsletter. We need volunteers who follow the community
(mailing lists, newsgroups, web channels) and report events related to free
