Well. LWN /does/ present an annual predictions for the coming year (on
Linux and the open source community in general) article, with an analysis
of how well last year's predictions did. That could be thought of as a
one-year roadmap of sorts. I don't think anybody that knows the territory
is brave enough to make even semi-serious projections out much further
than that.

I suppose LWN could update it every six months, perhaps every quarter, and
post a link to that to generate PR.

... Which reminds me... it's getting that time of year again. 2005's
round of annual predictions and look-back articles should be already being
planned, and for actual paper magazines, they're likely already in mock-up
if not at the press, by now. It'll be interesting to see how LWN did and
what it predicts for next year. Maybe I'll have to go find the 2004
article and reread it, just to get a clue where LWN will be going with the
next one. <g>
