Simply hover the mouse over an "empty" space on the desktop and scroll. This feature is available in KDE as well, but it seems to have appeared in Xfce first. It's available in GNOME as well. I believe it was at least in Fedora Core 2 (Gnome 2.6), but possibly earlier.
