William Harold Newman has announced SBCL 0.8.17 on 28 November 2004. The main new feature of this version is Unicode support. SBCL (Steel Bank Common Lisp) is a Common Lisp implementation based on the CMUCL (CMU Common Lisp) sources, but it puts a greater emphasis on maintainability. SBCL runs under Linux, xBSD and Tru64 on x86, MacOS X (Darwin on PowerPC), Alpha, AMD64, MIPS, PPC and SPARC CPUs.
