With millions of users worldwide and an increasing number of
large government deployments in France, Singapore and elsewhere
OpenOffice.org including its derivative products is building a
strong and increasing user base in the office productivity market.

North American OpenOffice.org fans and users will no longer have to
travel internationally to meet up with their peers. OpenOffice.org
will have a half-day regional event at the Desktop Linux Summit in
San Diego. The DLS is organized by Linspire, Inc. and will be held
in Feburary 2005.

The OOoRegiCon North America Team is now inviting OpenOffice.org
users and developers to send in abstracts for the sessions.
Possible topics could be

* OpenOffice.org features
* How to contribute
* State of the OpenOffice.org project
* Migration experiences
* XML, XForms and OASIS
* Macro and API development
* Porting
* Localization

Formal sessions will run for 30 minutes including Q&A and all materials
should be submitted in OpenOffice.org format. Lightning talks will be
limited to 5-10 minutes including setup time for any technical equipment.

Speakers will receive a free pass for the full Desktop Linux
Summit. Some travel assistance may be available for worthy speakers
not otherwise able to attend. If you require travel assistance you
must indicate so on your submission. In general we do not provide
full funding for international travel.

Please submit an abstract (not to exceed 250 words) of your
session to

callforpapers@openoffice.org

The acceptance deadline for abstracts is December 10, 2004. The
final agenda will be defined and communicated by the selection
committee by December 17, 2004.
