SWL PARTICIPATED IN THE CONSUMER ELECTRONICS LINUX FORUM (CELF) TOKYO
TECHNIAL JAMBOREE EVENT
Sun Wah Linux Limited is the first company in China that has participated
in the Consumer Electronics Linux Forum (CELF) Tokyo Technical Jamboree
event, which was held by all the CELF member companies all over from Japan
and other countries such as Europe and US end of October. Their
participation represented their first step toward understanding Linux for
use in consumer electronic (CE) products.
The CELF Tokyo Technical Jamboree targeted Linux engineers especially for
Japanese speaking Linux engineers. The CELF was trying to make it easy for
engineers engaged in the Linux development of Consumer Electronics
appliances to join the technical discussions. Hence, CELF believes that
this kind of technical events can become a catalyst for starting
development projects in the CELF community.
SWL has obtained such a great opportunity to meet the Japanese engineers
through this event. This not only help them realize an open platform for
compelling new consumer electronics products, but also increase their
engineers' knowledge by having a fruitful exchange of technical information
to improve Linux for consumer devices.
As one of the CELF members, Sun Wah Linux Limited acknowledges the benefits
of using the Linux operating system in consumer electronics products. They
also acknowledged the shared benefits of common specifications and
reference implementation, which help advance the development of Linux and
increase the utility of Linux for use in consumer electronics products.
"SWL is actively participating in CELF's activities. We foresee a great
potential in our Linux application on consumer electronics such as mobile
phone as we have established a strategic alliance with industry-leading
vendors such as Epson and Fujitsu and community partners such as
CELF," said Alex Banh, Deputy CEO of Sun Wah Linux Limited.
SWL will continuously participate in more of the CELF activities in the
future as our embedded operating system, sw-Linux e-Lite OS can be
installed on Consumer Electronics products such as mobile phone, PDA,
digital cameras, mp3player...etc.
