Will we see MySQL 4.x being included in more Linux Distributions in the future? Will distributions like Redhat move from 3.2x to the more recent versions? What is the state of Licensing problems for this software? Brandon PetersenGet Firefox!

Licensing problems? Posted Nov 11, 2004 16:12 UTC (Thu) by shane (subscriber, #3335) [Link] What licensing problems?I'm pretty sure it's GPL. Also, MySQL 4.0 has been standard in Gentoo since July 2003. Gentoo rocks! :)
MySQL Version 4.1 Certified as Production-Ready Posted Dec 9, 2004 2:18 UTC (Thu) by barrygould (guest, #4774) [Link] The problem is PHP's license, which is not GPL compatible. PHP compiles with the MySQL libraries.
The MySQL 3.x libraries were LGPL licensed, but 4.x is GPL.
MySQL is working on a solution as PHP seems to be unwilling to change their license.
