The blag site is back online after the hard drives were seized
by the US Gov't. The archive was verified since we consider the
servers compromised. It is now running on a different box at a
different ISP in a different country. ;)
AP has a surprisingly (at least to me) accurate account of where
things are at--believe it or not, we still don't know why the
hard drives were taken. The AP story is all over the 'net,
here's one place:

The EFF (eff.org), who is representing me & indymedia in this
case, has filed to have the gag order lifted in a Texas court.
They even had to take an educated guess at which court to file
since they don't even know which /court/ ordered the seizure...
EFF's most recent press release:

While the best guess is that this is related to indymedia, we
don't know that for sure (indymedia & blag shared one of the
two servers).
In sum, the US government feels it can just knock out a server
outside of the US and not tell anyone why. Even the British
cops have formally told the UK Parliament they weren't
involved. While this may be related to indymedia, I feel this
has some major ramifications for Free Software as well...
Thanks,
-Jeff
