Is there an easy way to upgrade a Debian machine (e.g. change you apt.sources list)? I wasn't able to find any instructions on the Ubuntu site.

Does upgrading from Debian testing or unstable work?

The FAQ mentions upgrades only from Debian Woody or from Ubuntu prereleases. Has anyone tried upgrading from sarge or sid? Are there conflicts?

Works, as far as I can tell.

I just added the Ubuntu main to sources.list, gave it a suitable priority, and then picked the stuff I wanted with aptitude.

Galeon stopped working while the upgrade was running, but that is not very surprising ;-) It fixed itself after aptitude was done.

I didn't run into any problems so far.

This line should do the trick:

deb http://archive.ubuntulinux.org/ubuntu warty main

sources.list:

deb http://archive.ubuntulinux.org/ubuntu/ warty main

plus a few others (-security, -updates, multiverse restricted universe).
