Kind of an amusing comment. First, last time I checked Novell had about a billion USD (10e9) on hand, so they haven't quite run out of money yet.

Second, what killed Novell was neither a better (more innovative?) product or competition - it was Microsoft including undocumented, Novell-breaking API changes in every W95 / Office 97 service pack. Since Microsoft controlled the desktop they eventually made it too painful to support the Netware client.

Finally, how is Active Directory doing in the marketplace these days? Funny how the trade press stopped discussing AD market share about 18 months ago.
