That's just silly. The parent of your comment was talking -stabilization of interface-, not stability of code. The expectation is that if you need something that works in a consistent way, you need to be pulling your stuff from someone that agrees on the consistent way it should be done.
The mainline kernel has to fit a lot of possible roles, and so is going to be never 100% matching the needs of a particular role.

That's why we have forking.
