Posted Sep 29, 2004 17:26 UTC (Wed) by stevenj (guest, #421) [Link] For those of us who don't keep up with the latest new distribution announcements, it would be nice if an article like this would mention the basic context:Ubuntu is a new Debian-based distribution, still in the pre-release phases, which was covered in last week's LWN. It has attracted recent interest because it appears to be well funded and has involved several prominent Debian developers. Please don't make me search for this stuff. (e.g. Ubuntu's own front web page doesn't even mention that they are related to Debian. Sigh.)
