A Sun engineer on Linux
Of course "Linux doesn't align with our engineering principles" when he
says things like:
"Both x86 and SPARC are built from the same source! There is a very small
bit of Solaris that is platform specific, and is scattered throughout the
codebase such that it would be impossible to separate."
It is clear that Sun must put considerable more effort in maintaining the
two Solaris sub-codebases than Linux requires.
