Pointless ideology?

Pointless ideology?

I never understood how end users can suddenly "demand" support for their
favourite hardware from developers.

Look, you don't buy some Mac hardware and expect it to work with your PC.
Why should the situation with Linux be any different? Linux enthusiasts
may very well have more fun things to do than taking it upon themselves
to support every hardware conceivable.

If you buy something, buy from a Linux friendly vendor. Buy Nvidia 3d
cards and you're screwed -- sooner or later. You know that when you buy
it, so don't come whining about it later. There's always the Radeon 9200
if you want something that's actually supported today. This is true even
if you run MS Windows today. Why deny yourself the ability to try Linux
later? Same for winprinters, winmodems, nforce ethernet (supposedly it's
been reverse engineered now though) etc.
