Full story on IDE subsystem

Parent article: Development kernel 2.5.36 released

The popular trade press have been making a big fuss over the status and history of the IDE subsystem in 2.5.x. Various Evil Entities (tm) are no doubt going to take this to the bank in terms of marketing and counterattacks. Plus, there are some legitimate questions out in the void concerning the direction of 2.5.x particuarly in relation to IDE and disk support. Any chance of these issues getting covered in some depth?

We've been following the IDE story all along - am I missing something here? See, for example: Correct me if I'm wrong, but perhaps what we really need is to fix the search engine problem so people can find this stuff...?

Sorry - I meant the development bazaar, not LWN

Based on your comment I see how my post could be misinterpreted. By definition that makes it badly written. Sorry ;-(

What I meant was: some in-depth interrogation of the development group and/or Linus to get an understanding of (a) what happened (b) why (c) what the current direction/thinking is in this area.
