Scribus 1.2 Released
One very odd thing that I have found with Scribus (and this is taken from this present 1.2 version) is that when editing in a text frame (not in the story editor), changing a style parameter (font, size, paragraph alignment, etc.) does not affect the entire selection--it only changes the paragraph associated with the last mousedown inside the frame. (At least this is the closest I can come to finding a pattern to the behavior.) Maybe it's just me, but when I do a "Select All" and then select a new font, I expect the font to change throughout the entire selection. Call me crazy, I guess... Note that this behavior is not the same in the story editor; the changes happen as one would expect there. However, since the editor supports only one font (with no stylistic options--no bold or italic marking within the story, not to mention no way to select those variations in the first place) it's rather difficult to see the changes until the frame is updated in the main document.
One more thing... does anyone know how to get Scribus to subset fonts when exporting to PDF? It does a form of subsetting with CFF-style OpenType fonts, but that only consists of making a set of PostScript procedures, one for the outlines of each glyph, and calling them in sequence when rendering the text. This is not what I'd call good subsetting. And it appears to embed the whole font when exporting to PDF with TrueType fonts, rather than subsetting. (??)
