Here's SCO's press release on its third-quarter results. $11.2 million in revenue, for a $7.4 million loss. SCOsource revenue was $678,000, from two sources; one will be EV1Servers.Net; the other is a mystery licensee. SCO has also worked a new deal with its lawyers capping its cash outflow at $31 million, but giving them a bigger chunk of any settlement.

I had no idea that a quarterly report could be genuinely hilarious.
Let's see:
from Q3 '03 to Q3 '04 revenue, $20.06M went to $11.21M.
from Q3 '03 to Q3 '04 net, +$7.42M went to -$3.10M.
Lending his penetrating intellect to the analysis, Darl McBride summed up by saying
Several positive developments fell into place for us this quarter that
strengthened the Company's overall position ...
But the choicest comment had to do with SCOsource extortion^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H licensing revenue:
However,
SCOsource licensing revenue did increase by $667,000 from the prior quarter
ended April 30, 2004.
Yes -- from $11,000 to $678,000!
I reckon that to be a 6,136% increase from quarter to quarter, leading to the reasonable assumption that SCOsource will make $42,000,000 next quarter and pretty much control the world's economy in a couple of years.
No wonder Darl is swelling with gas^H^H^H justified pride!

The volume is pretty low. Maybe someone is manipulating the price...

Certainly somebody is manipulating the price. We even know who they're using to manipulate the price: "Wilson-Davis & Co., a
market maker in Salt Lake City, Utah, a city with a long-standing
reputation as a key centre for dubious penny stock deals."

Stowell added, "They didn't pay full retail price on each server, but the deal was still worth seven figures all together for SCO."
So either Blake Stowell does his forecasting in octal, or there's more EV1 money in the pipe somewhere.

Since EV1 is enjoined from revealing the terms of the deal, we don't know how much of a discount they got from Microsoft on their Windows licenses at the same time. It would be fun to have the paperwork on that deal subpoenaed.

The revenue from the deal is recognized over "several" quarters, although the company declines to specify how much or how many. They still maintain it's worth more than $1m.
