rPath Security Advisory: 2007-0071-1 Published: 2007-04-16 Products: rPath Linux 1 Rating: Major Exposure Level Classification: Local Deterministic Denial of Service Updated Versions: kernel=/conary.rpath.com@rpl:devel//1/2.6.19.7-0.3-1 References: http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2007-0005 http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2007-1000 http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2007-1357 http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2007-1388 https://issues.rpath.com/browse/RPL-1035 https://issues.rpath.com/browse/RPL-1153 https://issues.rpath.com/browse/RPL-1154 https://issues.rpath.com/browse/RPL-1244 Description: Previous versions of the kernel package have several vulnerabilities resolved in this release. The most severe is a remotely triggerable system crash (denial of service) in the appletalk protocol module, but the tools to configure appletalk are not included in rPath Linux, and it is not a commonly-used protocol, so the module is not normally loaded and thus rPath Linux systems are not normally vulnerable. The other vulnerabilities involve local users; one that applies only if the driver for the Omnikey CardMan 4040 is loaded, and two involving IPv6, one of which enables local users to cause a system crash. A system reboot is required to resolve this vulnerability.
