CHAMPAIGN, IL, May 10, 2002 - The University of Illinois Office of Continuing
Education this week announced the availability of a new online Linux System
Administration Certification Course Series. The University of Illinois is
offering the course series in conjunction with Useractive(r) Inc, creator of
the only Web-based approach to IT learning that combines online instruction
with an integrated virtual lab environment where users learn by doing.

For the first time, individuals interested in learning Linux and Unix system
administration skills can do so through University of Illinois certified
online instruction. The course series is targeted at both beginning and
intermediate Linux/Unix users.

The new course series is delivered via a unique learning environment
available through any Web
browser and combines the accessibility of online learning with the
effectiveness of hands-on lab tools and personal coaching. The Useractive IT
Learning Sandbox(r) provides a total learning experience that includes online
delivery of course content; a real-time hands-on Unix lab environment where
students apply new skills; and interactive mentoring and coaching from expert
instructors.

"Skills-based subject matter requires an effective lab environment in which
students can practice and apply new concepts," said Paul Cobia, Director of
Marketing at the Office of Continuing Education. "This new course series
provides valuable Linux and Unix system administration skills through
convenient and effective online instruction. The critical real-time access
to an actual lab environment makes the Useractive solution we've chosen
unique in online education."

University of Illinois Certified Linux Instruction

Students enrolling in the new courses receive University of Illinois
Continuing Education Credits and can earn a Certificate of Completion from
the University of Illinois after finishing the Linux course series. The
course series was developed for individuals and corporations that desire
convenient, effective and accessible IT instruction. The new course series
complements existing online courses from the University of Illinois and
Useractive including courses teaching HTML, DHTML, XML, Java, JavaScript,
CGI, SQL, PHP, C, C++ and VBScript.

"Useractive is honored to have been chosen by the University of Illinois to
provide the online Linux course series," said Pat Brown, Useractive President
and CEO. "This newest addition to the University of Illinois-Useractive
partnership in online technical training represents a continuing focus on
student oriented, highly effective e-learning."

The Linux series comprises four courses that span Linux/Unix administration
skills from basic to complex and is targeted at individuals with basic
computer knowledge who want to acquire system administrator skills.

Specific content includes the fundamentals of the Linux/Unix operating system
from basic systems administration to key services such as email, Web, and
DNS. More advanced courses in the series teach critical system administration
skills such as developing and using shell scripts.
