Toolkit for collaboration now enables on-demand & view-dependent streaming

Oakland, CA - May 02, 2002 - Tech Soft America (TSA), the leading provider
of core graphics component technology to the engineering industry, has
released the HOOPS Net Server (HOOPS/Net) v7.0. HOOPS/Net is a server-side
component which greatly facilitates the development of client/server
applications, particularly those with real-time collaboration capabilities
or server-driven file streaming. HOOPS/Net serves as the collaboration
server for breakthrough applications such as 3D TeamWorks from SolidWorks
(www.3dteamworks.com).

In addition to enabling the rapid development of new client/server
applications, HOOPS/Net makes it possible for developers to quickly add
real-time collaborative capabilities to their existing products. The ability
to deliver collaboration without the need to re-architect an existing
product makes HOOPS/Net a unique and powerful tool. It allows developers to
satisfy their customers' demands to collaborate from directly within the
applications they are already using on a day-to-day basis.

HOOPS/Net is a completely configurable server API which handles issues such
as file serving for on-demand streaming, session-control management,
platform and network-protocol independence, late-join, and network
reliability buffering.

Brian Harrison, Director of Internet Product Development, SolidWorks added,
"HOOPS Net Server has proven to be a powerful, flexible system for quickly
adding collaborative functionality to applications. We are impressed with
the specific customer-driven enhancements TSA has included in this latest
version of HOOPS/Net and look forward to taking full advantage of these new
capabilities within our 3D TeamWorks solution."

Highlights of this latest release include:

·File Serving Extensions. Certain application types benefit from the
piece-meal serving of sub elements of a file from a server. HOOPS/Net now
includes selective streaming capabilities for applications requiring
on-demand or view-dependent streaming. This is most useful to applications
which deal with extremely large, complex data sets.

·Proxy Server Support. Sophisticated HTTP tunneling and proxy authentication
is fully supported, allowing the server to be launched from within a
firewall.

Noted Ron Fritz, Managing Partner at TSA, “HOOPS/Net continues to serve two
purposes in the engineering marketplace. First, we are enabling an entirely
new class of applications to be built with minimal up-front investment. So
much the same way Parasolid and ACIS fueled growth in mid-range CAD,
HOOPS/Net will power a new generation of collaborative applications. Second,
end users are often interested in adding real-time collaboration as a new
feature within the applications they are already using, already comfortable
and already seeing value from. With HOOPS/Net, developers can now quickly
deliver on this customer demand before a competitor beats them to the
 punch.”
