Interphase Joins MontaVista Partnering Program
Interphase controllers and software integrate with MontaVista Linux to
enable lower development costs and reduced time-to-market

MontaVista Seminar Series, Ottawa, Canada, April 30, 2002 -- Interphase
Corporation (Nasdaq: INPH), an international supplier of embedded
next-generation networking technologies, and MontaVista Software, the
company powering the embedded revolution, announced a strategic partnership
today to provide embedded developers with complete carrier-class solutions
for third generation (3G) wireless and 'converged' next generation (NGN)
markets.

As a new member of the MontaVista Partnering Program, Interphase is
incorporating MontaVista Linux on its embedded communication controller
products that provide intelligent interfaces to communications
infrastructure products. As the communications market demand for open
solutions such as Linux rises, Interphase will meet its customers' needs for
reduced time-to-market and reduced development costs through its support of
the leading open embedded Linux operating system on the market today,
MontaVista Linux®.

"MontaVista Linux is a cost-effective and versatile development platform and
operating system for the embedded market. Its broad platform support and
valuable tools meet the needs of our customers while enabling them to meet
their requirements of short development cycles and reduced development
costs," said Felix Diaz, vice president and general manager, Telecom
Products Division, Interphase Corporation. "Our support of MontaVista Linux
is especially important for applications such as signaling gateways and
softswitches."

MontaVista Linux is currently supported in many Interphase controllers
including the 4575, 5575 and 6575 ATM Over OC-3/STM-1 communications
controllers in PMC, PCI and CompactPCI form factors. MontaVista Linux
support is also underway on the Interphase 1635 T1/E1/J1 communications
controllers through Interphase software development kits (SDKs) that provide
robust development tools for ease of integration and reduced time to market.
Interphase also plans to offer on-board support of MontaVista Linux on a new
product family that will be announced at SuperComm in June. All Interphase
carrier-class products enable customers to deploy their designs to market
quickly and cost effectively by outsourcing hardware and software
development with scalable solutions that preserve their investment.

"We are excited to partner with Interphase to provide complete solutions to
developers in the communications market," said Sheila Baker, vice president
of marketing, MontaVista Software. "MontaVista Software has become a leading
supplier of software solutions to the communications equipment providers.
Interphase is a key provider of network connectivity solutions and we are
pleased to recommend them as our communications controller of choice."

The two companies are displaying their solutions worldwide at the MontaVista
Seminar series, "Moving from a proprietary RTOS to embedded Linux," from
April through June, 2002. For more information on seminar dates and
