RED HAT NAMES PATRICK KERRIGAN VICE PRESIDENT OF SALES FOR THE AMERICAS Technology Industry Veteran Brings 15 Years Experience in Sales Growth and Exceeding Revenue Goals to Open Source Industry Leader RALEIGH, N.C.--April 18, 2002--Red Hat, Inc. (Nasdaq:RHAT), the world's premier open source and Linux provider, today announced the appointment of Patrick Kerrigan as vice president of sales for the Americas. A seasoned sales manager and veteran of the high tech industry, Kerrigan boasts many years of experience in exceeding sales revenue targets for a variety of technology companies. He will draw from his extensive background of executing sales initiatives to promote widespread adoption of Red Hat's recently released enterprise-class product line by companies in North and South America. "Red Hat searched extensively for a candidate with a strong technology background as well as a proven track record of success in consistently meeting and many times surpassing corporate sales goals," said Matthew Szulik, CEO of Red Hat. Most recently, Kerrigan held the title of vice president of sales for Entigo Software, where he helped grow revenues from $8 million to $12 million in less than a year. He also served as vice president of North American sales and operations at Brio Technology for nearly five years, driving sales from $3 million to over $110 million. Prior to this, Kerrigan spent seven years at Sybase, Inc., managing a region that consistently ranked in the top of the nation, exceeding sales goals by 50%. In a five-year period, Kerrigan grew the Southeast region from less than $1 million in revenues to $62 million.
