Extended Systems Ships Advantage TDataSet Descendant Client for Kylix

Delphi developers can port applications to Linux without rewriting database
code

BOISE, Idaho-(March 27, 2002)-Extended Systems (Nasdaq: XTND), a leading
provider of mobile data management and wireless connectivity solutions,
announced today that its Advantage Database Server TDataSet Descendant client
for Kylix (Delphi for Linux) is now shipping. Kylix support allows Delphi
developers to port existing Advantage TDataSet Descendant applications to the
Linux operating system without rewriting any of their database access code.
This feature enables developers to expand into Web services applications while
capitalizing on the performance, scalability and zero-administration
technology offered with Advantage Database Server.

The new Advantage Kylix components will provide database access without the
use of Borland's dbExpress just as the Advantage Windows components currently
provide database access without the use of the Borland Database Engine (BDE).

"Extended Systems continues to provide developers with a feature-rich,
high-performance relational database server that can easily be distributed on
a variety of platforms at a low cost of ownership," said Don Baumgartner,
vice president of worldwide marketing at Extended Systems.

Pricing and Availability
The Advantage TDataSet Descendant for Delphi/C++Builder/Kylix is provided as
a free add-on to Advantage Database Server. Advantage Database Server ranges
in price from $249.00 for a two-user license to $7,495 for an unlimited-user
