MontaVista Seminars Demonstrate Java and Embedded Linux Are Made for Each
Other

SUNNYVALE, Calif. ‹ March 20, 2002 ‹ MontaVista Software Inc., the company
powering the embedded revolution, is sponsoring six seminars for embedded
software developers in North America and Europe. The seminars, entitled
³Embedded Linux and Java,² will be held in Santa Clara, Calif. (Hilton Santa
Clara) on Tues., April 2; in Dallas, Texas (Omni Richardson) on Thurs.,
April 4; in Paris (Novotel Paris Pont de Sevres) on Wed., April 10; in
Eindhoven, The Netherlands (Golden Tulip Koningshof) on Thurs., April 11; in
Piscataway N.J. (Four Points by Sheraton) on Tues., April 16 and in Boston
(Radisson, Chelmsford) on Thurs., April 18. All the seminars are half-day
events and open to all. There is no cost to attend, but registration is
confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis.

The two evolving ³open² software standards, embedded Linux® and embedded
Java, are ideally suited for developing systems for pervasive computing
solutions, and they work well together. In combination, they represent the
next generation of embedded systems technology, especially for digital
electronics, consumer devices (such as WAP phones, media players, PDAs and
set-top boxes), telematics and telecommunications applications.

According to Mike Mathews, Java product marketing manager, MontaVista
Software, ³Today, a growing number of embedded developers is choosing the
combination of the Linux operating system and Java technologies for greater
flexibility, faster time-to-market and higher productivity. As the
complexity of connected network attached devices is growing, embedded
project developers are looking to Linux and Java to deal with this challenge
effectively.²

Attendees of MontaVista¹s ³Embedded Linux and Java² seminars will see live
demonstrations of the latest innovative Java solutions developed with
MontaVista Linux®. They will also have the opportunity to meet the experts
at MontaVista Software, who will be available to answer technical questions.
