LINEO ANNOUNCES NEXT PDA TO RUN LINEO EMBEDIX PLUS PDA

Kaii from Infomart Targets the Worldwide Market With a
Feature-Rich, Reasonably Priced PDA

SAN FRANCISCO (Embedded Systems Conference 2002, Booth #2110) - March 12,
2002 - Lineo(r), Inc., a leading innovator of embedded operating systems and
host development environments for vertical-specific markets, and Infomart
today announced the continued development and expected Q2 release of the
Kaii personal digital assistant (PDA) utilizing the Lineo Embedix(r) Plus
PDA vertical software stack. This follows the announcement of Embedix Plus
PDA integrated to run the Sharp Zaurus SL-5500D.

Lineo Embedix Plus PDA is a complete software solution for PDAs and smart
phones, enhancing innovative OEM hardware designs with the best available
software for productivity, entertainment and personal information
management. From handheld gaming to secure business transactions, an
Embedix Plus PDA platform can be built to suit the needs of any device
manufacturer. Lineo integrates offerings from Trolltech, Opera and Insignia
to provide a complete yet scalable vertical software combination.

Based in Bangalore, India, InfoMart developed the Kaii, meaning "hand" in
the local Indian language, to become India's first natively designed PDA.
The Kaii was first intended exclusively for the Indian market but will most
likely be offered throughout the world. The Kaii uses a Hitachi SH3
processor running at 160 MHz with 64 MB RAM and 32 MB ROM. The Kaii
provides another PDA to develop to for the Linux / Java developer community.

"The Kaii targets the midrange consumer with an extremely useful PDA and the
Zaurus is a high-end mobile tool," said Alford Frost, senior vice president
of marketing at Lineo. "Through these design wins, Lineo continues to show
the flexibility of Embedix Plus PDA as a robust software platform for many
forms of smart handheld devices. Lineo continues to focus on providing the
embedded software industry's best operating systems, tools and
vertical-specific software stacks for manufacturers of smart hand-held
devices, residential gateways and digital television solutions. InfoMart
selected Embedix Plus PDA to provide a stable PDA operating system based on
Linux and Java with a robust set of PIM applications. The Kaii will
capitalize on an army of Linux and Java developers, already developing for
the Zaurus, to provide numerous applications and content for PDA users."

Cahners In-Stat Group expects the PDA market will grow significantly in
2002, with worldwide shipments rising about 18 percent from the previous
year. The global long-term market forecast for PDAs is solid, with annual
growth through 2005 in the double-digit range, peaking in about 2004 at 30
percent, and then tapering off in 2005 as the market matures.
