RED HAT PROVIDES EMBEDDED DEVELOPMENT TOOLS FOR SANYO PROCESSOR Open Source Leader to Deliver Complex GNUPro Port to SANYO's Embedded Processor EMBEDDED SYSTEMS CONFRENCE, San Francisco, Calif.--March 12, 2002--Red Hat, Inc. (Nasdaq: RHAT), the world's premier open source and Linux provider, today announced a partnership with SANYO to complete a highly complex GNUPro port to SANYO's Xstormy16 processor. GNUPro is recognized as the world's most popular embedded development tools suite. "We chose Red Hat to build the GNUPro port to our processor because of its extensive knowledge of embedded architectures, prominence in GNU tool development and exceptional technical support," said Susumu Yamada of SANYO. The architecture on which SANYO's processor is based is designed for memory constrained applications, and SANYO plans to utilize it on home appliances, portable units and audio systems.
